Newsroom

A small group of Village Bank customers has recently been contacted by a fraudulent party pretending to be The Village Bank, asking for debit card information in order to verify transactions. This activity does not appear widespread.

If you receive a call from anyone you doubt is a legitimate Village Bank employee, consider the following:

  • Were you expecting the call?
  • Does the caller sound rushed or impatient?
  • Is there a reasonable need for the information they are requesting?

If you have any question – collect the person’s first and last name, hang up and call The Village Bank Customer Care Center at (617) 969-4300. It is a best practice to never give sensitive information over the phone, and to resist being pushed into immediately giving information.

Protecting your financial information is our top priority. For more information on how to protect yourself from fraud, please visit our Security Center.

Thank you for your diligence.
