The Village Bank recently announced Anne Carey as the winner of our $5,000 eVolve summer promotion. Carey was presented with a $2,500 check by President and CEO Joseph De Vito at the Bank’s corporate headquarters on Needham Street in Newton. Carey also chose to donate $2,500 to the Newton Food Pantry.
“It’s been really fun to be a part of this, and obviously to win is great. But I’ve been so impressed with the personal service, and this bank really makes me feel like I have someone on my side,” Carey said. “The Newton Food Pantry was the right choice for me. We have so many families who depend on the pantry. I want to do any little bit I can to help, and this was a great opportunity.”
The Bank held a summer-long promotion during which any customer who opened an eVolve Rewards Banking account was entered for a chance to win $2,500 for themselves and $2,500 for a charity of their choice. The promotion finished at the end of September.
The Newton Food Pantry aims to alleviate food insecurity in Newton by providing supplemental food and personal care products to community members in need, serving its clients with dignity, compassion and respect.
“We are so grateful for Ms. Carey’s gift and incredibly honored that she chose us from so many worthy nonprofits,” Newton Food Pantry executive director Jeff Lemberg said. “This community has really rallied around us. We will put this gift to good use and continue to shine a light on the reality of food insecurity.”
De Vito presented checks to both Carey and Lemberg. Joining him were the Bank’s Chief Retail and Marketing Officer Amy Werner and Community Relations Officer Sue Chapman.
“We are ecstatic for Anne and our wonderful friends at the Newton Food Pantry,” De Vito said. “We always love bringing our customers and community together in such a meaningful way.”
